I AM SORRY GUYS, FOR NOT REPLYING TO COMMENTS AND REPLIES AND REPLIES TO REPLIES EFFICIENTLY; school has been a chore and it's already starting to knock me over and I'm getting super busy (especially after tomorrow if what may happen happens).
Have I ever told you guys before that Ilias glows?
I never made a mention of it before, because whenever it's out of my head, it sounds super ridiculous (in my head, it makes perfect sense, and has always been since the beginning, because of...stuff that will be revealed once the comic progresses). But, yessir, he does glow, whenever it's Night out and when it's very dark. Which is super convenient for Grimsley because hey, why waste candles when you can have a personal lamp ahead of the discovery of electricity?
Over here I was wondering if I should settle on a speech bubble that is opaque (just like everyone else, except for the wavy tail) or with a slight transparency. I actually prefer the latter because it fits with an important narrative, character-development context that will also be far off into the future. And it conveys his quiet voice and personality extremely well.
BUT WHAT'S MORE IMPORTANT IS THAT OMG ASHEL YOU DREW A BACKGROUND HOLY CHEESEROLLS OF SUMATRA I totally swear I will improve and work on more backgrounds, okay! TWiDI is a terrible terrible child in that it demands me to draw backgrounds quite...frequently. OTL
Yay for personal lamps! Did you know that there is actually a recorded case of worker women in the 20's that would glow in the dark? It was attributed to the radioactive paint they consumed while making army watches. Unfortunately, radioactivity isn't so great for the body, and a lot of the women ended up dying of bone cancer. BUT. I like the BG in this. I like all your backgrounds, actually. There's something very children's book-esque to them that catches my attention. Simple, but conveys where they are and the mood of the scene. The speech bubble is a rather neat idea! I like it. (: Is there a purpose to the little butterfly resting on Ilias' shoulder?
ESPECIALLY ONES AS GOOD-LOOKING! Oh wow, really? I never knew of this case! It sounds intriguing. Where did you get this from? It must have been interesting during bedtime when they glow in the dark... Thank you, Josie! This is very kind of you! I often dislike my BGs because they never manage to look like what I expect. But all these words flatter me. < 3 I will try to get my stuff to look more like that, then. Haha, thanks! I was cracking my head about it because it is a great visual cue of his character. Played around with it the other day and it worked, so the transparent bubble is GOOD TO GO. That butterfly? Symbolism also. You should keep an eye out for it.
Preemptive P.S.: Aaaaaah I hope you're hanging in there with school! KEEP ON, ASHEL ;^;;;~
Ooh, and what a lovely background it is! You made a good choice using such strong, shapes and simple details with the path[s, oh my gosh, that little swirly edging against the foliage is so charming *6*], the trees, and the city beyond -- the minimal use of line and color there brings our eyes to that butterfly AND THAT STRAPPING LUMINOUS LAD THERE, oof, no, I have not heard that he glows! That is so neat >u<~
Hey, that's neat! The butterfly's pretty much one of the focal points in this. Personal lamps are awesome, especially when they are just as good-looking as this guy. >:[________]
